Welcome to Our Reception Class Page
In Reception we are always busy and have lots of fun and adventures. We aim to enjoy learning new things, work hard and try our best and make the most of our learning through a range of play opportunities. We have a safe and secure environment and use both our inside and outside learning spaces throughout the day. We have lots of stimulating resources which support our learning journey. Our highly experienced and qualified teachers and teaching assistants are:
Mrs Hogan (Monday & Tuesday)
Mrs Evans (Wednesday to Friday)
Ms Gallagher (Monday to Friday)
We view Reception year at Winkfield St Mary's as an important and exciting foundation for pupils' learning and we have created a curriculum which will prepare children to be ready for Year 1 and beyond. We aim to create a partnership with parents and carers, and we are available at either the start or the end of the school day if you have any questions or concerns. Alternatively, you can e-mail us via the school secretary (secretary@wsmschool.org) and we will respond to your messages as soon as possible.
On this page you will find useful information and details of our learning.
Below, you can see how our class timetable looks when children first start in Reception. As the year develops, so too, does the timetable so that we build in structure in preparation for the next step of our learning in Year 1.

PE is on a Tuesday afternoon. Please name all PE clothing! We visit the Library on Wednesday mornings when library books will be changed (so they should be returned each Wednesday please).
Home Learning
Reading books will be changed each Friday. Please ensure you write in the reading diary when you have read with your child (every evening if possible). You will have a phonics book so that you can practise the sounds we have taught at home regularly too. During this term we will continue to send home weekly handwriting practice sheets. (changed each Monday)
