Winkfield St Mary's: Supporting Autism Inclusion
As a school we aim to foster an environment in which inclusion and happiness are at the heart of everything we do.
In April 2025, we took an important step to support this objective and the learning outcomes of pupils. The school is proud to participate in the Beyond Autism Fast Responder ® initiative.
The programme supports autistic pupils, schools and carers, with needs-led inclusive solutions, in the hope of addressing the disproportionate and growing number of suspensions and permanent exclusions of pupils.
To reduce this national picture, it is crucial that autistic children access learning in environments that are inclusive and supportive of their needs. At Winkfield St Mary’s we are committed to providing inclusive learning environments. Our quality first teaching ethos ensures staff are confident in teaching SEN pupils, whilst working with pupils and wider support networks to ensure we have the right strategies, resources and processes to enable proactive approach to behaviours that challenge.
In support of this programme, we have dedicated resources and leads to manage the programme and its objectives.

It's important to note that our Beyond Autism Fast Responders ® support a range of pupil needs.
Who do we support?
- Those with emerging signs indicating support needs or those at point of crisis
- Those with an autism diagnosis, awaiting an autism diagnosis, or who have been identified to be referred for an autism assessment
- Those with or without an EHCP
